Global Leadership Institute* (GLI)

Meet the Team

Richard Feinberg, Ph.D.

Professor Feinberg has been with IR/PS since 1996. He is an authority on U.S. foreign policy, multilateral institutions (IMF, World Bank, NAFTA) and summitry (APEC, Summitry in the Americas, G-8). He is an expert on trade and investment, globalization, democratization and non-governmental organizations. He provides oversight to the program, events, international marketing and acts as a liaison with the IR/PS faculty.

Darla Wilson, Ph.D.

Darla has worked in higher education for 20 years, with eight years of focus in international education. Her international experience has taken her to every major city in Asia, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East. Over the span of twelve years she served as a director of admissions, director of marketing communications and director of student activities. Darla began her career as a professor and women’s basketball coach at UCSB. Dr. Wilson holds a Ph.D. in Leadership and Organizational Behavior. Darla oversees program management and marketing.

Anne Delaney

For the past five years, Anne has served as an English Instructor for UCSD's English Language Institute, where she was the Faculty Advisor for the China Scholarship Council Program. Ms. Delaney also developed a successful business as an English language and intercultural communication trainer for executives. Anne served two years as an Adjunct Faculty member at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. During this period, she taught English to executives in Shantou, China for three months. Ms. Delaney has also worked for a nonprofit as a special events coordinator. Anne holds a Master of Arts in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Anne’s primary roles are in programming and professional tours/seminars for GLI.

Carolina Mendez

Carolina joined GLI after serving over three years in program management for UCSD’s Center for Research on Educational Equity, Assessment, and Teaching Excellence (CREATE). In this role, she supported CREATE’s mission to utilize two of the University’s most vital resources, faculty and students, to advance local schools and school districts. Ms. Mendez managed day-to-day logistics for the program, oversaw financial management, and participated in marketing. Prior to her tenure at CREATE, Carolina served as the Housing Coordinator for UCSD’s International Center, where she successfully placed students and scholars in and around our campus. Carolina is a graduate of UCSD and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. Ms. Mendez is also fluent in Spanish. Carolina’s primary roles are in management and administration of GLI.
