Jeffrey Warner

MPIA '11

Jeffrey Warner is a Foreign Service Officer for the U.S. Department of State, currently serving as a Consular Officer at the U.S. Consulate General Shanghai, China.

At IR/PS, Jeffrey pursued Southeast Asian studies and public policy, was co-president of Southeast Asia Link (SEAL), and a co-founder of Political Analysis & Strategy Simulations (PASS). During his summer internship, he was a policy analyst and marketing intern with the San Diego County Taxpayers Association.

Prior to coming to IR/PS, Jeffrey was a cruise director for an American cruise line plying the waters in the Three Gorges along the Yangtze River in China. As cruise director, he held the highest authority on the ship, and was responsible for all facets of guest relations and experience.

Jeffrey completed his undergraduate work in Asian studies and Chinese language at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. His senior thesis revolved around the effect of Chinese central government policy on the development of ethnic nationalism in the Uyghur minority of northwest China. He has a graduate certificate in Chinese Studies from the Johns Hopkins University-Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies in Nanjing, China.

Jeffrey is a native of the Mojave Desert in Southern California. He graduated from IR/PS in 2011 and was a Dean's Fellow. At IR/PS he studied public policy and China. He speaks Mandarin Chinese and Bahasa Indonesia.
