Byungho Kwon

MPIA '12

At IR/PS, Byungho Kwon focused on the analysis of local and community-level sustainability initiatives, urban land-use planning, and efficient usage of energy and resources. His long-term goal is to develop a sustainability index so that cities and municipalities in his native country, Korea, can evaluate the success of local environmental policies. Most recently, Byungho provided research for a Korean NGO, the Coalition for Environmental Agriculture, using quantitative and qualitative tools to contribute to a comparative study of land use for organic agriculture in the EU and Korea.

Byungho was the president of Mannam, the Korea-focused student organization at IR/PS. With club members and faculty advisers, he worked to expand awareness of significant issues related to Korea among IR/PS students and San Diegans who have an interest in Korean affairs. He is also a graduate of Korea University with degrees in economics and international trade.

Byungho graduated from IR/PS with a career track in international environmental policy, and a Korea regional focus. Byungho was a Dean's Fellow.
