He recently completed GAO's Professional Development Program and is an analyst for Homeland Security and Justice (HSJ). His work at GAO has been diverse and crossed three GAO teams, ranging from a review of DOD's Civilian Human Capital Strategic Plan in Defense Capabilities and Management (DCM), to a Technology Assessment of passenger rail security devices in HSJ and a study of the financial solvency of Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) in Financial Markets and Community Investment.
Prior to IR/PS, Andrew Curry taught international relations and political economy at the TEC de Monterrey in Mexico. Andrew was an active IR/PS community member, working for Baja Project, leading LASO, and interning at the San Diego County Taxpayer's Association.
Following IR/PS, Andrew moved to Washington, D.C. with his wife and fellow IR/PS graduate, Melissa Nitsch, where he worked for the Treasury Department, Internal Revenue Service, Tax Exempt and Government Entities (TE/GE) as a program evaluation and risk analyst. His work included the development of a research paper aimed at identifying methods to encourage the growth of low- and middle-income household retirement funds and general program oversight.
