Jason Hafemeister
MPIA '91
Jason Hafemeister is the Vice President of Allen F. Johnson & Associates, a Washington, D.C. based consulting firm that provides policy and market analysis to companies, trade associations, and international institutions. He is also Vice President of AgriOpportunity, a 501 (c) (3) focused on promoting agriculture and trade in developing countries.
Jason was spawned in the cold ocean waters off California’s beautiful central coast. He spent his youth as a seasonal laborer in the verdant ‘salad bowl’ of American agriculture, the Salinas Valley. After college at the University of California and graduate school at IR/PS, where he concentrated his studies on international management, economic policy, Latin America, and hacky-sack, Jason went east under the Public Management Institute program and worked for 15 years at USDA and USTR on trade negotiations. Among other tasks, he was lead U.S. agriculture negotiator for China’s accession to the WTO, the Central American Free Trade Agreement, and the WTO's Doha round of negotiations.
Jason also earned a JD from Georgetown University and is a member of the Washington, D.C. bar. He left government in 2007 to join Allen F. Johnson & Associates. He is married with two small children.
