Kama Dean
MPIA '01
Kama Dean is the co-founder of Pro Peninsula, a community-based nonprofit created to protect the oceanic environments of the Baja Peninsula. Pro-Peninsula joined The Ocean Foundation in 2009 to expand their reach. The environmental conservation work of Kama Dean and IR/PS almunus Mark Spalding, MPIA '92 and president of The Ocean Foundation, has remained true to its roots in the community.
Prior to IR/PS, Kama attended New Mexico State University, where she studied government and Latin America. After New Mexico State, she worked with nonprofit organizations and government institutions in the United States and Latin America, specializing in campaign strategy development, fundraising, and government relations.
Kama graduated IR/PS in 2001 with an MPIA degree and a concentration in environmental policy and effective consulting practices. She remains involved with IR/PS, serving on the board of the student organization Strategic Community Consulting.
