Nina Merchant

Nina Merchant-Vega is an associate director at the Asia Foundation in San Francisco, where she works with field offices to design, implement, and manage country programs.
Nina has expertise in the design and implementation of democracy and governance-strengthening projects, and is an experienced international election observer. She was the operations director for Strategic Community Consulting, an IR/PS student-run management consulting group for nonprofits in San Diego. Nina also completed a survey of alternative energy projects for rural electrification in Andhra Pradesh, India. At IR/PS, she focused on strengthening her qualitative and quantitative public policy analysis skills as well as enhancing her knowledge of Southeast Asia.
After graduating, Nina worked with the Louis Berger Group in Washington, D.C. as a development economist for Asia and Africa programs. She graduated from IR/PS with a career focus in public policy and a Southeast Asia regional specialization.
