Omar Parbhoo

MPIA '09

Omar’s educational background includes a degree in computer engineering with a minor in mathematics. Prior to IR/PS, Omar worked for the Iwate Board of Education in Japan where he sharpened his language abilities and gained insight into the Japanese culture. He also contributed his strong quantitative and analytical skills to a small engineering firm based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At IR/PS, Omar served as the Vice President of Technology & Resources for PIASO, as well as the External Affairs Coordinator for Asameshikai

Omar is currently employed as an economist for the U.S. Department of State, where he focuses on multilateral assistance and development for transitional economies. Since the beginning of the Arab protests, much of Omar's work has centered around analyzing and designing economic assistance programs for countries in North Africa.
