Raka Banerjee

Career Track: International Development and Nonprofit Management

While at IR/PS, Raka Banerjee specialized in international development and nonprofit management, and, during her first year, was Managing Editor of the Journal of International Policy Solutions. Raka also served as President of Asameshikai as well as Vice President of External Affairs for the Pacific International Affairs Student Organization (PIASO), and was selected as a Dean's Fellow. She interned at an NGO in Gaighat, Nepal as a Peace Fellow for The Advocacy Project.
After graduating from IR/PS, Raka joined the World Bank to oversee the field work for an impact evaluation in Malawi studying the effect of conditional vs. unconditional cash transfers on the HIV rates of young women. In September 2010, she became the Project Coordinator for the Living Standards Measurement Study (LSMS) team within the World Bank's Development Research Group, where she coordinates overall project support for a household survey research initiative to improve agricultural statistics in sub-Saharan Africa. The project is currently being implemented in Ethiopia, Malawi, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Uganda. Raka holds a BA in international studies from the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington.
