The Career Services team is here to serve you and we connect our students and alumni to top employers locally and internationally. Career Services partners are global employers in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors who provide IR/PS students with internships and employment opportunities.
Meet the Team
David C. RobertsonDavid has been with IR/PS since 2005. He oversees the day-to-day functions of the Career Services department and manages the department's long-term strategic planning. David's focus is marketing the expertise of IR/PS students and developing relationships with targeted employers. He especially enjoys the wide diversity of backgrounds, interests, and dreams of IR/PS students. He also provides career development and counseling services for students pursuing international careers in the private sector. His services include one-on-one counseling, resume reviews, workshop presentations, and program development. In the San Diego community, David sits on the Board of Directors for the Rancho YMCA and the City of San Diego's Black Mountain Open Space Preserve. At home, David is an avid runner, hiker, and enjoys family life with his wife, two daughters, and Labrador Retriever. |

Nurit MandelNurit joined IR/PS in February 2004 and has been working with graduate students in the San Diego area for over 10 years. She provides career advising for students specializing in nonprofit sector careers. Prior to finding her home at IR/PS, she has held recruiting and advising positions in both nonprofit and private sector organizations and also has a background in event coordination. Originally from Switzerland, Nurit was drawn to IR/PS because of its international atmosphere and deeply enjoys students' global perspectives, experiences, and cultural contributions. In addition to one-on-one coaching, workshop presentations, outreach, and programming, Nurit coordinates the IR/PS Alumni Mentor Program and Summer Internship Funding Program. When she’s not at work, you’ll find Nurit with her husband, chasing their two young children and Irish Setter around the local playgrounds. Beyond her family life, she enjoys reading, writing, and a good play at the Old Globe in Balboa Park. |

Tamara GoldenTamara is the most recent addition to the IR/PS career services team, having started June 2009. She provides career advising to students interested in the U.S. public sector. Tamara brings almost 15 years of experience as a career coach to graduate students and alumni of international relations, beginning at SAIS in their Bologna, Italy center and most recently at The Fletcher School in Boston. Tamara enjoys partnering with students in achieving their goals through one-on-one coaching, career-related workshops and programs, and employer recruiting and outreach. In addition to a Master’s in Italian Language and Literature, she holds advanced professional certifications in life coaching, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and federal job search training. In her off hours, you’ll likely catch Tamara exploring San Diego's cultural scene or supporting her avid eating habit through biking, hiking, or working out at the gym. |

Iva Kostova
As Marketing and Student Outreach Intern, Iva is responsible for assisting with marketing and implementation of Career Services events. Iva is a 2012 candidate for a Masters of Pacific International Affairs at IR/PS, specializing in International Environmental Policies and Latin America. Before coming to IR/PS Iva has held positions in the non-profit and private sectors in Europe and USA. Iva holds a BA degree in Applied Linguistics from Plovdiv University Bulgaria. She is fluent in Bulgarian and English and proficient in Russian, Spanish and Portuguese. In her spare time, Iva loves to play tennis, travel, listen to music, and read. |

Pauline TaiAs the office's Career Services Intern, Pauline assists the staff with a variety of responsibilities and projects, including updating IRPSCAREERS with job opportunities and events, posting events on the IR/PS website, editing internship reports, managing databases, and aiding in the reception of students in need of career advising or general directions. Pauline is a third year undergraduate student at UC San Diego with a major in international studies with an emphasis in history and a minor in studio art. In addition to working and studying, Pauline is also involved with Origins, an on-campus fellowship. Outside of school, she enjoys reading good books, playing music, and going on spontaneous adventures with her friends. After graduation, Pauline plans to go to graduate school and eventually pursue an international career. |

Bao Vy LamAs the office's Career Services Intern, Vy assists the staff with a variety of responsibilities and projects, including updating IRPSCAREERS with job opportunities and events, posting events on the IR/PS website, editing internship reports, managing databases, and aiding in the reception of students in need of career advising or general directions. Vy is an undergraduate student at UC San Diego majoring in international studies with a focus on economics and minoring in visual arts. Outside of working and studying, Vy is an intern for UCSD’s Associated Students Concerts and Events, a secretary for the International Club, a writer and illustrator for Mania Magazine, and a DJ for KSDT College Radio. Vy enjoys creating performance art, guerilla art, and crafting in her spare time. After graduation, Vy plans to attend graduate school and eventually work as a teacher in Southeast Asia. |
