Career Workshops
The Career Development Program (CDP) is a set of training sessions and complementary materials designed to give incoming IR/PS students the foundation to take charge of their career development and manage it proactively, not only during their time here at IR/PS, but throughout a lifetime of job and career changes. Attendance at CDP is a requirement for access to one-on-one career coaching and eligibility for summer internship funding.
The CDP core courses include:
- Career Resources and Materials
- Sector Overviews (private/nonprofit/public/multilateral)
- Resume Writing
- Cover Letters
- Networking and Personal Branding
- Organizing your Internship/Job Search
- Social Media Marketing
- Informational Interviewing, Interviewing and Thank You Letters
- Keeping Career Development a Priority (panel with recent IR/PS graduates)
- Resources for International Students
- Head Start on Government Internships
In addition to the core CDP courses, Career Services sponsors additional workshops to enhance students' knowledge of specific skills, resources, or sectors. Examples include:
- Overview of Management Consulting and the Case Interview Process
- Demystifying the Security Clearance Process
- Immigration and Work Visa Workshop for International Students
- Networking a Career Fair
- Navigating the Federal Job Search Process
