Centre of Excellence Against Hunger of the World Food Programme
Brasilia, Brazil

“I have had the opportunity to accompany the visit of the Mexican delegation to the Centre to learn more about the Brazilian experience on school feeding programmes.  This visit included a number of discussions and meetings within internal and external organizations, such as the Ministry of Social Development and Agrarian Development in Brasilia. Some of my responsibilities in the last weeks have been to prepare the briefing and agenda for the delegation, write the mission report, review institutional documents, create and update country tracking systems, record delegation visits, and so much more!”

Partners In Development
Ixtacapa, Guatemala

“Partners in Development (PID) is a small non-profit that operates in the most impoverished regions of Guatemala and Haiti. This organization improves quality of life through child sponsorships, home construction, micro-financing, and the provision of medical services. As an intern on the Guatemala team, I have been working on a socioeconomic study of clients enrolled in specific PID programs to quantify how their lives have changed over the years. Working mainly in the small, rural village of Ixtacapa (2 hours outside of Guatemala City), I have been able to see firsthand the hardships that indigenous (Mayan) people face day to day and have truly been touched by their strength and resilience.”

Forum Empresa
Santiago, Chile

“Forum Empresa is a non-profit organization which collaborates with other non-profits and companies to improve corporate social responsibility in Latin America, the US, and Canada. Located in the upscale business district of Santiago, the office is small but the people are very friendly so I am enjoying it! My first project is to do research and write a paper about social innovation and different ways that companies can be more active in alleviating poverty in Latin America. I have already learned so much and I have only done one project so far!”
