Marian Nguyen graduated from California State University, Fullerton in 2007 with a BA in business administration and a concentration in marketing. From 2008-2010 she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Peru, where she worked to promote small business development and better business practices in rural areas. Her primary project focused on the economic development of a women’s artisan association.
During the summer of 2012, Marian returned to Peru as an intern at the U.S. Embassy in Lima. In the economic section she worked on issues related to the extractive and agricultural industries in addition to writing a cable on the economic impact of the El Niño phenomenon.
Marian intends to pursue a career in the Foreign Service with either the State Department or USAID. She is currently concentrating on international development and nonprofit management, with a regional focus on Latin America.
Marian is proficient in Spanish and has a special interest in the economic advancement of women worldwide, in addition to anti-poverty and social inclusion programs.
