Career Track: International Politics
Regional Focus:
Languages: French, Mandarin
Dean's Fellow, 2012-2013
Julian grew up in New York and has since lived in North Carolina, Hawaii, London and Beijing. His primary interests are dogs, pasta, and Roland Barthes, but at IR/PS he has focused on comparative politics and environmental affairs.
In the summer of 2012, Julian held a research position at the International Network for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR), an organization of 38 countries headquartered in Beijing. Their work encourages the use of these highly renewable natural resources to create jobs and responsible production processes in impoverished areas around the world.
INBAR's approach has helped shape Julian's optimism toward humanity's greatest challenges. He believes that those fortunate enough to receive education have a duty to share it with others.
