Shannon Morrison graduated summa cum laude from UC Santa Barbara with a BA in business economics and a minor in professional writing for business communications. As a research intern with United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean in Washington, D.C., she worked on reports analyzing current trade trends and corporate social responsibility. After graduating from UC Santa Barbara, Shannon served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Suriname working on community economic development projects. She gained advanced fluency in Saramaccan, a Portuguese-based Creole, and is currently learning Spanish.
At UC San Diego, Shannon intends to focus her studies in international economics, and is especially interested in the impact of economic policies on the environment and the development of impoverished communities.
