Perspectives

Krause can provide commentary on international financial issues, trade issues, the economies of Southeast Asia and Korea, and the activities of APEC and ASEAN.

Expertise

Krause is one of the world's top authorities on trade and economic issues in the Pacific Rim. His expertise includes international finance, APEC, GATT and the world trading system and economic development and forecasting in Pacific Rim countries.

Current Projects

Krause is director emeritus of IR/PS's Korea-Pacific Program, which he founded in 1989 and for which he served as director for 10 years.

Background Notes

Krause served as a senior member of the White House's Council of Economic Advisors in the Johnson Administration. Krause has received numerous awards and honors throughout his academic career and served as a consultant to the U.S. State Department and as U.S. government special representative for trade negotiations. Krause, who joined IR/PS in 1986, is the first holder of the endowed PECC chair at IR/PS. He was a senior fellow with the Brookings Institution and earlier taught economics at Yale University. Krause previously oversaw the annual Pacific Economic Outlook (PEO), an economic forecasting project on the Pacific Rim.
