Immigration at the National and Local Level in Japan
With generous funding from the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership and in partnership with Nagoya University, the School of International Relations and Pacific Studies at UCSD will present a series of two conferences to examine immigration issues in Japan.
Spring Conference: UCSD
The first conference will take place from May 6-7, 2011 at UCSD and feature leading academics from Japan, Brazil, Australia and the United States. The project’s objectives are to examine immigration policy in Japan in a comparative approach with the United States. It is the hope that the conference will result in intellectual exchange on policy issues of immigration and local community building from a multi-disciplinary perspective touching on economics, political science, law, anthropology, and sociology.
