Berman: Afghan police force limited by lack of computers, phones, electricity

The Marines and the Afghan security team greeted the old men with tidings of peace. They crowded into the foyer, negotiating for permission to question some suspicious characters peering from the upstairs windows. Then, an explosion rocked the apartment building.

“Move up, move up!” shouted Lance Cpl. Luke Swihart, the infantry team leader, as the international cadre of military and police forces piled toward the stairwell.
