Trade deficit shrinks by 7.6%

Thanks in part to the weakness of the dollar and low demand for foreign oil, the U.S. trade deficit plunged by 7.6 percent in October to $32.9 billion, as a surge in exports overwhelmed a slight uptick in imports, the Commerce Department said yesterday.
