Shannon Cummings,

Wu Chen has been making a splash in the world of business reporting in Asia. Chen is the Senior Editor of EuroFinance, an Economist publication, based in Shanghai, China. Prior to that he served as editor for another Economist publication, CFO China. Chen’s broad range of experience includes posts with Business Week in Hong Kong, Bloomberg News in Singapore, and the international news department of Xinhua News Agency in Beijing, China. This year Chen was formally recognized for his achievements when he won the Society of Asia Publishers Excellence Award for Business Reporting. This award was in recognition of a ground-breaking piece he authored on the problems involved in the process of Chinese manufacturing sector transformation in July of 2008.
Most recently, Chen authored the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Six Month Report Card on China’s stimulus package. Approaching the one year anniversary of the Chinese stimulus package, the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai invited Chen to speak. On November 4th, Chen shared his views at the well-received event. He discussed the real impact of the stimulus package across a broad spectrum of industries. Demonstrating that the IR/PS connection remains strong even years after graduation, in attendance was fellow alumnus from the class of ’89, Philip Ma.
