09/24/2009

Second year student Nicole Nakagawa was among a group of graduate students from U.S.-based schools affiliated with the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs selected to travel to Japan this summer. The 2009 Japan Travel Program for U.S. Future Leaders, sponsored by the Center for Global Partnership and the Japan Foundation, sought to enhance U.S./Japan relations by introducing students to a myriad of issues, locales, and individuals. The group itinerary was packed with trips to Tokyo, Yokosuka, Hiroshima, and Kyoto that were both educational and culturally enlightening. Nakagawa and the others had the opportunity to interact with students, professors, government and military officials, and professionals specializing in the areas of diplomacy, economy, environment, and security. Said Nakagawa, “My participation in this program was an experience of a lifetime, one that has enabled me to solidify my career goals and better understand the critical relationship that exists between the U.S. and Japan."
