Grace Osborne,

Seeking to expand their understanding of western laws and business practices, the China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group (CGNPG) selected the IR/PS Global Leadership Institue (GLI) to train 10 of its most talented professionals from their business and contract division.
GLI developed a uniquely structured training program that provided a desired combination of coursework and professional tours, focusing on project management, marketing, and overall business acumen. The six-week training program included lectures by prominent IR/PS faculty such as Peter Gourevitch, Barry Naughton, Tai Ming Cheung, Mikkal Herberg, and Ralph Reisner.
To complement the lectures, the training program incorporated professional tours on location at local companies that paralleled the work done in their division at CGNPG. An afternoon at Solar Turbines, Inc. included a facility tour and presentations by Ken Rumsey, Manager of International Business Development, as well as Eun Sung Kim ‘93, Project Application Engineer, and Cindy Liu ‘98, Program Manager of Customer Service Marketing. The group also met with San Diego County Supervisor Ron Roberts and the District 4 Community Representative, Lei Zhang ‘03.
GLI hosted a record 12 short-term delegations this academic year, comprising more than 300 mid-career and senior-management professionals.
