Spring Connections 2009

20 alumni from the private, non-profit, and government sectors came to IR/PS on Thursday, April 2 for the annual Spring Connections 2009. These alumni came from as far as Japan to share their career advice with current and newly admitted students.
Several alumni lead 'mini-sessions' throughout the day for students to learn more about specific career fields and job search skills. All 20 visiting alumni took questions from the student audience during an evening panel discussion.
Alumni emphasized networking as one of the most important ways to find a job. In addition to tailored resumes and well-written cover letters, following up and maintaining an active network of contacts should not be overlooked.
Alumni and current students met at Eucalyptus Point after the panel events for networking opportunities over dinner.
