IR/PS is proud to announce that a record seven students were chosen as Presidential Management Fellow (PMF) finalists this year, giving IR/PS, at 31%, one of the highest selection rates of all the APSIA schools.
The PMF Program's purpose is to attract to the Federal service outstanding men and women from a variety of academic disciplines and career paths who have a clear interest in, and commitment to, excellence in the leadership and management of public policies and programs.
This year’s finalists are:
Sean Bowman – International Management/Japan
Matthew Eblen – International Economics/Japan
Christopher Hemmerlein – International Politics/China
Rhiannon Kucharski – International Economics/Latin America
Shannon Pallone – International Environmental Policy/Southeast Asia
Omar Parbhoo – International Economics/Japan
Vera Scheidlinger – International Politics/Latin America
Six of the seven finalists will be traveling to Washington, D.C. during the week of March 23 to take part in the PMF career fair where they will interview for positions at more than 80 federal agencies. Not attending will be Rhiannon Kucharski, who has already accepted a non-PMF position working with the US Army Corps of Engineers in Los Angeles.
Once placed, this rigorous two-year paid fellowship includes:
• Formal classroom training of 160 hours,
• Mandatory four to six month developmental assignment,
• Optional rotations of one to six months in duration,
• Challenging work assignments,
• Potential for accelerated promotions, and
• Opportunities to network with other future leaders.
It should be noted that each year our wonderful IR/PS PMF alumni in Washington, D.C. help the incoming PMF Finalists with information, advice, networking, and even a place to sleep during the career fair . . . and this year is no exception. Thank you all!!
Please join us in a virtual round of applause for these outstanding students!
