IR/PS Dean Peter Cowhey appointed Associate Vice Chancellor - International Affairs

Senior Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Marsha Chandler announced on January 18 the appointment of IR/PS Dean, Peter Cowhey to the position of Associate Vice Chancellor – International Affairs. Cowhey is the first incumbent for the new position which was created to provide leadership in campus-wide strategic planning and the articulation of a long-term vision and plan for the continuing development and enhancement of UCSD’s international mission.
Cowhey will fulfill the duties of his new position concurrent with his responsibilities as Dean of IR/PS. He will serve as an advisor to the Chancellor and Senior Vice Chancellor on international issues and strategies. He will provide leadership in the formation and ongoing activities of a campus-wide Advisory Committee on International Affairs, mange UCSD’s response to inquiries and proposals for international exchange and affiliation agreements, and oversee the activities of the Office of International Academic Exchange and Protocol (OIAEP). Additionally, he will serve as a campus ambassador, spokesperson, and advocate for UCSD’s international interests, representing the university at the campus, local, state, national and international levels.
