02/10/2011

G'Day USA is an annual program designed to showcase Australian business capabilities in the U.S. This 14-day program features new Australian business, art, education, and tourism events in eight different U.S. cities.

On January 21, 2011, G'Day USA hosted a dialogue event in Los Angeles, "The United States and Australia in Asia." A series of speaker panels discussed topics ranging from strategic and political issues to the economic issues of U.S.-Australia relations in Asia.

IR/PS professor Miles Kahler moderated the panel on Regional Architecture. The U.S. Ambassador to Australia and the Australian Ambassador to the U.S. were also featured at the dialogue event. Students participated in the days' panel discussions and were able to meet with the ambassadors afterwards.

Catherine Harris, MAS-IA candidate, organized student participation, from MAS-IA and MPIA students, at this conference in Los Angeles. Other students in attendance were Lauren Hartig (MAS-IA), Mark Ledesma (MAS-IA), Karen Grunstra (MPIA '11), Shijie Yang (MPIA '11), Elena Foukes (MPIA '12), Andrew Chiang (MPIA '12), Yiru Xue (MPIA '12).
