IMF's Lipton: Expanding Trade, Start-Ups Wld Spur Japan Econ

Expanding overseas trade and reforming policies to encourage creating start-up businesses would spur faster growth in Japan, a senior International Monetary Fund official said Wednesday.
IMF First Deputy Managing Director David Lipton said Japan would benefit by joining the fast-growing Asia region's free-trade agreement.
"In particular, participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership or economic partnership agreements would further strengthen ties within Asia and raise both inward and outward FDI," Lipton said in a speech prepared for delivery to an IMF conference on Japan.
