Stephan Haggard is an expert on Korea, and also specializes in the Latin American economy. His most recent book, Witness to Transformation: Refugee Insights into North Korea examines life within North Korea and the country’s secretive regime through the experiences of refugees. In addition to his teaching and research, Professor Haggard also frequently blogs about North Korea at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. Barbara F. Walter studies political conflict and civil wars. She is the author of Reputation and Civil Wars: Why Separatist Conflicts Are So Violent and co-editor of Territoriality and Conflict in an Era of Globalization. She also writes at the blog Political Violence @ a Glance. Gordon Hanson specializes in the economics of international trade and migration, and is the director of the Center on Emerging and Pacific Economies at IR/PS. His book Regulating Low-Skilled Immigration in the United States argues that America must reform its immigration system by making it easier for productive workers to immigrate. He is also an editor of Skilled Immigration Today: Prospects, Problems, and Policies, along with numerous other books and journal articles.  David Victor directs IR/PS’s new Laboratory on International Law and Regulation, and is an expert of regulatory law and climate change diplomacy. He is the author of Global Warming Gridlock, which explains why international greenhouse gas negotiations have not been successful, and The Collapse of the Kyoto Protocol and the Struggle to Slow Global Warming. His writing has also appeared in Foreign Affairs and Newsweek. Miles Kahler studies the international political economy and global finance. He is editor of the recent book Networked Politics: Agency, Power, and Governance, which explored political networks in international relations and governance, and co-editor of Territoriality and Conflict in an Era of Globalization and Governance in a Global Economy: Political Authority in Transition. He is the author of numerous journal articles and has contributed chapters to many edited volumes, including The Dilemmas of Statebuilding: Confronting the Contradictions of Postwar Peace Operations.
